Interactive model

Inside a control panel

The parts we specify, build, program and commission. Turn the panel, open the door and select a component.

Drag to turn

  1. Touch screen on the door. Operators see the process, alarms and trends, and start or stop equipment.

  2. Run, warning and fault lights show the state at a glance. The emergency stop removes power from the drives safely.

  3. Turns mains power into the steady 24 V DC that the controller, modules and instruments run on.

  4. Runs the control logic: reads inputs, decides, and drives outputs, many times a second.

  5. Connect the controller to sensors, valves and motors in the field.

  6. Links the controller to SCADA, the HMI and the data layer, on the OT network.

  7. Protect each circuit from overload and switch motors, heaters and other loads.

  8. Control the speed of pumps, fans and conveyors, saving energy and reducing mechanical wear.

  9. Where field cables land. Clear numbering makes testing, maintenance and fault finding faster.

The operating data path

Where it fits

Where this capability sits on the operating data path.

  1. 05 Decision

    Better decisions at every level.

Operators respond sooner, engineers find root causes faster, and leadership sees performance across sites with confidence in the numbers.

  2. 04 Intelligence

    Information people actually use.

Data only creates value when the right people can see it clearly.

  3. Secure conduit

OT security separates the plant network from the enterprise network and protects the data path between them.

  4. 03 Industrial data

One trusted record of the operation.

The AVEVA PI System collects high-fidelity, time-series data from across your control systems and stores it as a single, reliable history.

  5. 02 Control systems

Reliable control at the plant floor.

PLCs, DCS, SCADA and HMIs run the process minute by minute.

  6. 01 Plant

    Where operational data begins.

Every pump, mill, turbine and line generates signals about how the operation is performing.

    Level 0

Data rises from the process to the people who decide. Levels follow the ISA-95 / Purdue reference model.
